What is it?

Bronze leaf disease is a fungus that infects various poplar species including Swedish columnar aspens, trembling aspens and tower poplars.
Symptoms
- Infected leaves turn into reddish-brown, bronze color, with veins still remain green.
- Diseased leaves often remain attached to the tree and cause branch dieback.

Damages
- Bronze leaf disease can be easily spread by airorne spores, improper pruning and from tree to tree.
- Branches dieback after several seasons of infection.
What to do?
- Remove and destroy fallen leaves all the time.
- Prune off diseased branches and regular pruning to improve airflow.
- Avoid dense planting and avoid planting the same/similar species.
- Sanitize pruning tools with bleach-water solution.
- No chemical treatment is effective.
